Dance

“Every day brings a chance for you to draw breath, kick off your shoes, and dance.” – Oprah Winfrey

Dance is an expressive, creative and dynamic art form.  It helps shape a person’s sense of identity and draws out leadership skills, teamwork, discipline, determination, time management, critical thinking and problem solving.  The physical activity promotes a healthy lifestyle and a strong sense of well-being in addition to improving strength, flexibility, endurance and balance.

At NBA, Dance forms a valuable part of the curriculum and is purposely varied to allow students with different dance backgrounds and abilities to succeed.  They gain an understanding of the professional world of Dance and extend their knowledge of technique whilst developing important skills, both specific to dance and those which are transferable.

In Dance, students study a range of dance styles, professional works from around the world, as well as exploring cross-curricular themes with Humanities, English, Science and PSHE.

Experts from Stanford University have proved that dancing makes you smarter – “Dancing integrates several brain functions at one – kinaesthetic, rational, musical and emotional – further increasing your neural connectivity”, so it represents an excellent choice.
