North Birmingham Academy’s Sixth Form 16-19 Bursary Fund offers financial assistance to students who may struggle financially. In order to be entitled to the Bursary, students must meet a range of criteria listed below:

Eligibility

Any student applying for bursary must be:

  • Under 19 years of age on 31 August in the academic year in which they start their programme of study and must satisfy the Education Funding Agency residency criteria.
  • Participating in full time education at North Birmingham Academy (deductions may be made for students with unauthorised or extended absences from their education)
  • Students must meet criteria outlined in levels 1, 2 or 3 below.

Level One:
Young people in care, care leavers, young people in receipt of Income Support (or Universal Credit) in their own name and disabled young people in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance (or Personal Independence Payments) are eligible.

£1,200 per year (£400 per term)

Level Two:
Students who are eligible for free school meals.

Level Three:
Students whose total family income is not in excess of £25,000 are eligible. Students who have an identifiable financial need or are experiencing financial difficulties may also apply.

Students in level two or three will be considered for funding based on their financial need and North Birmingham Academy’s available funding.   If financial circumstances change during the academic year then applications can be made at any time.
