Our curriculum in years 7-11

At North Birmingham Academy, the curriculum is the design and vehicle through which we support the highest standards of teaching, learning and achievement for our pupils. Our curriculum is broad and balanced, incorporating carefully selected knowledge and skills for students to master. Our curriculum is brought to life in a way that is meaningful and exciting for pupils; promoting a life-long love of learning. It also provides the cultural capital that our pupils will need to be successful in learning as well as in their future lives; opening minds, opening doors; uncompromising on aspirations.

Accordingly, our curriculum is designed as a purposeful learning journey supporting our pupils’ academic and personal achievements, readying them for the challenges of the modern world. Each subject is knowledge-rich, with content carefully selected and deliberately ambitious. Our building blocks of learning encourages pupils to be curious about their learning.

Through the way our curriculum is organised, we help pupils make meaning of the world; broadening, deepening and enhancing their experiences and knowledge, enabling all pupils to reach their potential, no matter their starting point and background.
